Tenuta San Guido is a 2.500 hectares estate with around a hundreds of vineyard. It has been the first winery to produce in the forties a wine made with Cabernet Sauvignon, thanks to the experimentations and the foresight of its founder, Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta. The use of this particular variety and the ageing of the wine in barriques, laid the basis for the Bolgheri style.
The winery it’s the only one entitled to the production of DOC Bolgheri Sassicaia, once a sub-area of the DOC Bolgheri, which has been turned into a DOC of its own in December 2013. The most famous wine made by Tenuta San Guido is Sassicaia, released on the market for the first time with the 1968 vintage.
