Passion and expertise
Poggio al Grillo’s story started by the passion of Alessandro Scalzini, a cardiologist by profession that inspired by the scents of the Mediterranean maquis and childhood memories, began to cultivate vineyards in his spare time, treasuring the advice of farmer friends and technical experts.
A family project
The passion for viticulture is carried on also by his daughter Giulia, who after high school decides to undertake studies to become an oenologist and support her father’s business.
In 2015 they began the first harvest together, with the goal of bringing the highest expression of the territory into the bottle. And as time went on, the project began to involve the whole family, bringing Eliana and Silvia into the business as well.
