At the present moment, the houses which belong the consortium which oversees the production of Bolgheri wine are 38 in number. In terms of overall vineyard surface, the Consortium represents 91% of the overall total registered to the appellation. The data of the official census of the vineyard surface completed in March 2010 are the following: 1,154.97 hectares (2885 acres) planted within the appellation borders. Of this total, 1,059.36 hectares (2650 acres) belong to consortium members; 991,98 hectares (2465 acres) are registered to the appellation while the remaining acreage is registered to the production of IGT (Typical Geographical Indication) wine.
